Chlorine may help keep the pool clean however it doesn’t help with causing red, itchy eyes, brittle hair and allergies. A non-toxic alternative is Hydrogen Peroxide 3%, this keeps your pool clean and without unpleasant odours.

You Will Need:

HOW DOES HYDROGEN PEROXIDE WORK?

When exposed to sunlight, Hydrogen Peroxide 3% reacts to create compounds that oxidize and eliminate organic nutrients that would feed bacteria and fungi. This reaction takes place quickly, meaning that frequent use of the pool will require regular testing of the water with test strips to ensure an adequate concentration. Top Tip: Plan to test your water at least weekly to maintain the desired ratio.

USING THIS SOLUTION

Hydrogen Peroxide 3% should not be used with diatomaceus earth pool filters, as high concentrations can turn the filter to sludge. Natural rubber fittings or accessories are vulnerable to oxidation should be replaced with artificial substitutes. Indoor pools must employ an ultraviolet light system to activate the chemical reaction that eliminates microbes.

TREATING YOUR POOL

To treat your pool, calculate how much hydrogen peroxide you will need and how much water you will need to dilute this down. To allow the Hydrogen Peroxide 3% to work, start the pump to circulate the solution then shut off to allow the solution to work for 24 hours before swimming. *BE AWARE – IT IS STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED TO SWIM IN THE POOL STRAIGHT AFTER THE SOLUTION HAS BEEN ADDED. THIS CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR SKIN AND WELL BEING. MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH FOR HOW MUCH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE YOU SHOULD BE USING*

STORAGE

Store Hydrogen Peroxide 3% in a cool, dark and well-ventilated location. As with any oxidizer, handle Hydrogen Peroxide 3% with proper physical protection. This includes gloves and safety goggles. Also don’t forget to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Avoid skin contact and inhalation of concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide 3%.
