WHEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES?

It is recommended to clean your makeup brushes on a weekly basis – at least. It is suggested to clean eye makeup brushes once a month and face brushes once a week.

WHAT SHOULD YOU USE?

You should be using something that eliminates the bacteria. Although soap is a gentle cleaner – it does not clean and get rid of all bacteria or built up dirt on your makeup brushes therefore does not give it a thorough clean. You should use a proper makeup brush cleaner. Our Isopropanol 70% works to clean and cleanse the brushes taking care of your brush bristles as well as working hard to keep them bacteria free. From as little as £1.85 this cleaner will clean and cleanse all year round!

HOW TO CLEAN?

CLEANING METHOD 1 – DIPPING BRUSHES

You will need:

STEP 1

Take your Isopropanol 70% and pour a small amount into a shallow dish. Make sure the bowl is not too deep because you do not want to dip the entire brush into the product.

STEP 2

Swish the brush around, taking care the barrel of the brush does not get wet. You will start to notice makeup coming off the brush and the Isopropanol 70% in the bowl may start to change colour (This is just the makeup coming off and the product working). Continue to swirl for 10 – 20 seconds.

STEP 3

Wipe the bristles on a towel. Considering using an old towel for each time you use your brushes.

STEP 4

In a new dish, fill a small amount of Isopropanol 70% into a shallow dish. Dip the brush into the new dish and swirl around. Pat dry on a towel. Continue the process until no more makeup comes off the brush. This indicates the brush is now clean.

STEP 5

Squeeze and reshape the brushes. Once your brushes a clean, you should squeeze out any excess makeup brush cleaner from the brushes. This will help speed up the drying process. Also don’t forget to reshape the brushes into their normal shape as they will dry like this.

STEP 6

After you have wiped the brush off on the towel, lay it flat to dry or hang upside down. Small brushes will dry quickly however larger brushes may take one or two hours to completely dry.

CLEANING METHOD 1 – SPRAYING BRUSHES

You will need:

STEP 1

Depending on the Isopropanol 70% size you buy will depend on the trigger spray attachment size you will need.

STEP 2

Lay your makeup brushes on an old towel and spray the bristles with the makeup brush cleaner. Make sure the bristles are completely covered, to do this flip the brushes over so that you can spray both sides of the brush.

STEP 3

Wipe the brushes on an old towel back and forth. You will notice makeup coming off of the brushes onto the towel.

STEP 4

Repeat until clean. Continue the process until makeup no longer comes off of the brushes. This means you have removed all of the makeup and oils from your brushes.

STEP 5

Squeeze brushes to squeeze out any remaining makeup brush cleaner. This will help speed up the drying process. Reshape the brushes and let the brushes dry. Do not use your makeup brushes until they are completely dry.
